Samsung initially announced that it will NOT be updating the wildly popular Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab flagship devices with the new Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 upgrade. However, ajnews in Korea is reporting that the company will “review the viability of updating those two devices in response to strong customer demand”.
Samsung pointed out the lack of available memory as the main reason behind not providing the Android 4.0 update. Samsung is now saying that it will find and implement different ways to make this work.
It is very interesting to see that a company like Samsung is persuaded by strong user demand. The korean giant must have evaluated the hardware capacity of the devices in question before releasing statements about not providing the upgrade. At this point, it is hard to tell whether or not the company was trying to prevent extra work by making up false reasoning. I personally don’t care about Samsung’s intention as long the end users get to taste Google’s sweet ice cream sandwich.
