HTC Q4 Profits Down and Samsung Reports Record Breaking Quarter

The Q4 profit numbers were released by HTC and Samsung recently.  It looks like HTC has come to a full stop with their Q4 profit numbers.  Samsung on the other hand is reporting record breaking fourth quarter profits.

For the fourth quarter of 2011, total revenues reached NT$101,419 million, a decrease of 2.49% year-on-year. Unaudited operating income was NT$12,982 million, net income before tax was NT$13,243 million, net income after tax was NT$11,017 million, and unaudited earnings per share after tax were NT$13.13 based on 839,117 thousand weighted average number of shares. HTC is projecting to report NT$465,795 million in revenues for 2011 which is 40% higher than 2010’s numbers.

Samsung

Samsugn reported 5.2 Trillion operating profit for Q4 from their TV, Phones, Appliances, and displays.  Samsung has really made their mobile phone platform stronger and the numbers speak for them selves.  Samsung recently reported that they sold around 300 Million mobile units in Q4 and 35 Million of which were Smartphones, mainly the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note. The number of smartphones sold increased from 28 Million in Q3. Samsung is estimating to ship 374 Milliion devices in 2012.
