Images of the upcoming 4G LTE PlayBook tablet have been posted by a CrackBerry.com forum user. The 4G PlayBook has recently been seen in FCC documents and leaked internal RIM roadmaps. The screenshots show that the PlayBook will be getting Native BBM (previously BBM was available via BlackBerry Bridge). There is a SIM card slot, and the OS is receiving a big update to version 6.6.
With the New iPad being criticized for a lack of improvement over the iPad 2 (and the Heatgate problem) the 4G PlayBook should prove be a strong competitor. In addition, with 1.5 GHz dual-core processors, the 4G PlayBook will be up to 50% faster than the New iPad’s 1 GHz CPUs. The tablet is expected to launch in late April or early May.
