Bloomberg has confirmed that Apple is preparing to launch the new Macbook Pro models with thinner design and Retina displays. Apple will make the announcement on June 11 at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC).

“Apple’s new laptops will run on Intel’s new processors, code-named Ivy Bridge, and will have a slimmed-down body design from the current 0.95-inch thickness”. The new 15-inch MacBook Pro will lose the optical CD-drive in order to reach Apple’s new standard for notebook thinness. The new design is expected to adopt the MacBook Air keyboard design with the power button on the keyboard itself replacing the disc eject key.

The new Macbook Pro models are expected to have increased memory and battery for faster bootup times and longer battery life. The new models are also expected to ship with the super fast USB 3.0 connectivity options as well. Bloomberg reports that this is likely a controlled leak, which Apple PR has been known for in order to share some product detail.
