Android 4.1 Jelly Bean vs. Apple iOS 6 vs. Microsoft Windows Phone 8, which is better?

Its about time when we finally looked at the different features offered by the three main mobile operating systems of 2012.  With introduction of Apple’s iOS 6, Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8, it is only reasonable to compare them as these softwares will shape the outlook of mobile market in the upcoming year.

Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
On 27 June 2012 at Google I/O, Google announced the next Android version, 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is an incremental update with the main focus of improving the user interface, both in terms of functionality and performance, the latter involving “Project Butter” which uses touch anticipation, triple buffering, extended vsync timing and a fixed frame rate of 60fps to create a fluid and “buttery” smooth UI.

iOS 6
iOS 6 was announced on June 11, 2012, at Apple’s WWDC 2012 keynote event. Announced features include a Siri update,Facebook integration, a new maps app with turn by turn directions, FaceTime over cellular, and a new Passbook app that allows users to collect store gift cards and tickets.

Windows Phone 8
On June 20, 2012, Microsoft unveiled Windows Phone 8, a new generation of the operating system for release later in 2012. Windows Phone 8 will replace its previously Windows CE-based architecture with one based off the Windows NT kernel with many components shared with Windows 8, allowing applications to be easily ported between the two platforms.

The above chart was created by Redmond Pie detailing all of the features offered by the three mobile operating systems. We have formatted and modified the original chart with green highlights to indicate better features . We have only identified superior features based on hard facts (yes or no) without making opinion based decisions. Which is the best operating system? We hope our chart will help you decide for yourself. In our opinion, Android 4.1 is better with 13 superior features based on the facts given in the following chart.

    there are many wrong points-

    Windows Phone has got

•wireless cloud backup of pictures, contacts and office files on Skydrive
•Screenshot ability (windows button + lock button)
•voice recognition can work offline(limited to launching apps.) but can also be used to send text messages and call a person(online)
    • And real multitasking is also supported by Windows Phone. The apps. which need to run in background can run in background(browser, music player, downloads, IM’s) and some don’t. This approach is a lot better than “real” multitasking as it uses less RAM space.

A really good comparison.  When we get more details on BlackBerry 10 we can do a comparison of all 4 platforms.

Yes, we will have an in-depth comparison of BB 10 for sure.

Great.  Thorsten Heins just said in an interview with CIO.com today that two BB 10 smartphones will launch in January, which is consistent with an earlier rumour from N4BB.com.  I’m hoping that remains true, and that we are not far away from the BB 10 launch.

Unfortunately Michael, BB10 won’t launch somewhere in 2013 your rumors say January, mine say “the end” of 2013, so there will be new and even more awesome versions of Android and iOS by then. It wouldn’t really be fair to compare Jelly Bean and iOS6 to BB10, when by the time BB10 comes out, the rest of the world will be on iOS7 and Key Lime Pie.
